Every year is the same and yet different pertaining to the ski season. This was my 53rd year of skiing (never missed a season) and I always enjoy it every time I am on the mountain. Each run brings different ski friends, different conditions and weather. A new adventure each time!
The big event this year was the 2015 World Ski Championships. I have attended each one (1989/1999/2015) and have truly enjoyed the best skiers in the world (at that time) race with all their heart. Each championship has gotten bigger yet they are all exciting for everyone. This year I really enjoyed volunteering as a hostess. Much of my time was spent at the Beaver Creek bus stop answering questions and guiding people up the mountain. It was fun to see old friends and meet new ones, while there were many unique characters each day.
A few nights I worked the concerts in Vail, which was also fun! Each concert ended with fireworks and the crowds were wonderful and a good time was had by all. It was unseasonably warm during the races which, as a spectator, was nice. All in all, everyone that attended the many events had a good time. Hopefully, the world saw what a great place the Vail Valley is to visit and live! Springtime in the rockies can bring all types of weather, however summer is just around the corner. As much as we enjoy the winter, our summers are spectacular! So come to the mountains and give me a call!
